Collaborative Change Management
Is about managing organisational change in an inclusive - collaborative- way so that stakeholders have the opportunity to understand, be involved, and buy into change.

Proventive Solutions uses a four staged Collaborative Change Management Process.

This can be applied as a standalone process to support stakeholders in working together as they go through a change (e.g. Executives, Managers, Employees, Customers, Regulators, and Community).

It can also be brought in to support standard "hard" Project Management methodologies.

Collaborative Change Management can be applied to:
  • Organisational Reviews;
  • Restructures;
  • Change Management Projects.
Employees want to know aspects of a change such as:
  • Why is the change needed?
  • Why is it needed in this way?
  • Time and place?
  • What processes, structure, goals, and standards will change?
  • When will key changes occur and when will messages be communicated?
Employees need to understand how changes will affect them personally in order to address their concerns, and have a clear understanding of how they will fit in and continue to contribute to the organisation.

Employees can react differently to change and therefore a change management program include ways of addressing reactions such as:
  • Disengagement (withdrawal)
  • Disidentification (sadness & worry)
  • Disorientation (confusion)
  • Disenchantment (anger)
To address such reactions three approaches can be used:
  • Address feelings of loss and anxiety
  • Provide "narrative" communication about the changes and how it progresses
  • Encourage participation in planning and implementing change.
Self esteem is central to employees coping with change and the change management processes described above can be designed to maintain that sense of self esteem by respecting and supporting issues that would continue to empower an employee (i.e. sustain their sense of personal control over their work issues) and recognition (e.g. feedback positive and consultation).
